Who we are
Ouroboros Luleå AB is a tour operator based in Luleå, in the heart of Swedish Lapland. We specialize in guided nature experiences and outdoor adventures — by sea and land, all year round. Our team knows the local terrain, the shifting seasons, and the hidden places that make this part of northern Sweden extraordinary.
What drives us
Our focus is simple: safe, memorable experiences in nature. Whether you join us on the sea ice in deep winter or paddle through the archipelago under the midnight sun, every tour is built around respect for the environment and a genuine love for Lapland's wild spaces.
Year-round adventures
We operate in every season. Winter brings fatbiking, ice climbing, dog sledding, cross-country skiing, and ice yoga. Summer and fall open up tree camping, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and archipelago excursions. Our walking tours — from Gammelstad Church to guided nature walks — run throughout the year. Customized tours and packages combining accommodation with activities are also available.
Nestled along the shores of the Gulf of Bothnia, Luleå serves as the perfect gateway to the wild expanses of Swedish Lapland. The region offers a dramatic contrast of seasons, from the deep freeze of winter when the sea ice becomes a vast white playground, to the endless daylight of summer when the archipelago glows under the midnight sun. Visitors come to witness the northern lights dancing across Arctic skies, to explore frozen waterways, and to discover the rich cultural heritage of the Sámi people. Every landscape here tells a story shaped by ice, water, and the resilience of life in the far north.
What sets guided nature experiences apart is the deep local knowledge that transforms a simple outing into something unforgettable. Understanding the shifting weather patterns, knowing where wildlife gathers, and recognizing the safest routes across changing ice conditions are skills honed over years of living and working in this environment. Small group sizes allow for personalized attention and minimal impact on the fragile Arctic ecosystem. Whether navigating through coastal archipelagos or trekking across snow-covered forests, the focus remains on safety, education, and fostering a genuine connection with the natural world that surrounds you.
Sustainability lies at the heart of responsible tourism in Lapland. Operating with respect for the environment means following established trails, leaving no trace, and supporting local communities that have thrived in these conditions for generations. The delicate balance of Arctic nature requires careful stewardship—every step taken on the tundra, every ripple in the waterways, and every footprint in the snow carries weight. By choosing experiences rooted in environmental consciousness, travelers contribute to the preservation of these pristine landscapes. This approach ensures that future generations can continue to marvel at the same untouched wilderness that draws visitors from around the globe.
The changing seasons dictate the rhythm of life in northern Sweden, each one offering a completely different palette of activities and sensations. Winter brings the chance to walk on frozen seas, try ice fishing, or chase the aurora borealis across star-filled skies. Spring marks the return of light and the melting of snow into rushing rivers. Summer offers endless days perfect for kayaking, hiking, and fishing under a sun that barely sets. Autumn paints the tundra in shades of gold and red before the snow returns. This ever-shifting cycle ensures that no two visits are ever the same, each season revealing a new face of Lapland.
